A couple of weeks ago I posted some of our favourite summer items for baby – but it really got me thinking about my summer essentials – the bits for me! As a new mama my style is changing a little, but I still think I have a fairly classic look and that these are pieces that will last me.

STUDDED SANDALS | TORTOISESHELL HOOPS | FEDORA | BEACH TOTE | BUTTON CAMI | SHEATH DRESS | TINTED MOISTURISER | BAMBOO BAG | GOLD HOOPS | LEOPARD HAIR SCARF | SWIMSUIT | ESPADRILLES | LACE CAMI | ILLUMINATOR | SUNGLASSES
Studded Sandals –
I’ve long been a fan of the Valentino rock stud sandals but they are so far out of my price range. I actually really like a studded detail on anything (handbags too!) so these tan studded flat sandals are right up my street. They do run narrow, so consider sizing up.
Fedora –
Last year I went with a classic Panama hat (which is still going strong), since a wide brimmed hat is critical in the summer months, this year I’m adding another wardrobe staple – the Fedora. This one comes in different colours, but I love the tan.
Beach Bag –
I’m definitely guilty of owning too many beach totes (the husband can attest to that) but I still have this lovely BEACH bag in my cart… again multiple different colour options (many of the items on here are, so there’s something for everyone) to choose from. Should I get the tan or the cream?
Hoop earrings –
I’m a hoops girl at heart – I love the way they are so simple and go with everything! This tortoiseshell pair with the hint of gold are so fun! I also have these classic gold hoops (also in silver and rose gold) and they aren’t too big and they are my everyday earrings.
Leopard hair scarf –
I love a scarf for adding a bit of pattern and interest. So many different ways to style it – I’m currently using hair scarfs a lot!
Sheath T-shirt Dress –
I started wearing these when I was pregnant (not maternity, they just work well with a bump) and they are so simple and flattering for summer. Lightweight and figure hugging but with the ruching across the stomach which is very forgiving. I think I have this in 3 colours…
Button Cami –
Great for nursing mamas – these buttons are real with button holes (not fake) which is so handy. These loose swing camis are great with a simple pair of denim shorts and (you guessed it) they come in 16 different colour options.
Bamboo Clutch –
I think I have had my bamboo clutch for 2 years now, but I’m still including it because it really is a great summer vacation bag. It goes with everything and has such a fun feel to it. This is a dupe for the hugely popular Cult Gaia Ark bag that is still being brought out in different sizes and colourways.
Sometimes I switch up the look and layer and scarf on the inside of the bag – but usually I just like to keep the neutral bamboo tone.
Lace Cami –
Super versatile, I love a simple cami with a little lace detailing! I can wear this with some smart trousers for work or dress it down with cut-offs or a mini at the weekend.
Espadrilles –
Espadrilles remind me of summer holidays in Europe and they are an absolute style staple. This gorgeous two tone pair are a wonderful Chanel dupe. I like the tan/black combination but they also come in cream/black suede and black/black suede. They are currently on sale 40% off so you really can’t go wrong! Run and check them out!
Sunglasses –
Sadly I’m no longer allowed to purchase expensive sunglasses – they are just too easily lost or broken, especially when you wear them all day, every day (and shove them up on top of your head like I do). Despite the fact that I’m not spending lots I do still like to try and find quality pairs and I think that this polarized pair for under $15 represents exceptional quality, while still being cute!
One-piece swimsuit –
Even before getting pregnant I had switched to the one-piece camp. I’m not particularly confident about my soft mid-section and prefer to play up other assets. I still want my swimwear to be flattering and not frumpy though – so enter ‘the sexy one-piece.’
There are so many lovely swimsuits now offering a bit more coverage but without compromising on style. This navy lace-effect one-piece looks like it is showing some skin and the cheeky low-cut neckline is so flattering.
NARS Tinted Moisturizer –
Perfect for adding a light layer of coverage when you don’t want to be wearing foundation in the heat. Spf 30 gives your skin some added protection.
Illuminator –
Summer in a compact – this golden pinky illuminator is going to give you the most beautiful flushed summer glow!
So there you have it – a little look at my capsule summer wardrobe! All that’s missing is one of my favourite kimonos! What are your must have pieces for summer?
